The best flowers Lichfield and London, Liverpool and Londonderry have to offer are sure to be subject to some marvellous creativity when summer comes around again.

Some of this year’s creations were so impressive, in fact, that awards have been handed out as a result. Two florists from Hubbard’s Florist in Coventry, Vicky Rymell and Charlotte Baker, got their creative hats on to make a colourful entry for the birthday shop window contest. The ladies ended up winning the competition with their birthday hat made of purple, yellow and blue flowers.

“It was brilliant to win,” Baker told the Coventry Telegraph.

“We chose the theme because we like all the colours and we only had a few months to prepare. I love competing because it gives me a real buzz as well as the chance to really develop my skills and experience.”

Two more florists from a shop in Southam enjoyed a similarly successful combination of flowers and fashion when they created a dress made entirely from blooms in the local area. Sharon and Carol from Jacqueline the Florist took their inspiration from an Italian designer and made a dress made entirely from flowers such as the rose and the chrysanthemum.

There is no denying that the dress was an absolute hit amongst fans of flowers and fashion alike and it is likely to have inspired many innovators to get creative over the festive period and well into spring and summer next year.

“We were looking for a new challenge and wanted something amazing to put in our window,” said Sharon.

“We loved creating this dress and had a lot of people come in and admire it. We want to do something spectacular this year. Once the creative juices get flowing, we’ll be ready to create something really special.”
